Frequent questions

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy, most people do. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can simply be a safe space to talk, gain perspective, and explore what you need at your own pace. During your first session, your therapist will guide the conversation, answer your questions, and help you decide what kind of support feels right for you.

Yes, telehealth sessions are available for clients anywhere in the state of Florida. Due to state licensing laws, therapists can only provide services to clients who are physically located in Florida at the time of their session. If you’re temporarily out of state, we can discuss options and resume sessions once you return.

There’s no one-size-fits-all number of sessions. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your goals, schedule, and emotional needs. Some clients notice improvement after a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. Your therapist will check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to meet your needs and adjust the frequency if necessary.

You’re welcome to pay privately instead of using insurance. Our current self-pay rates are:

• Individual Therapy: $150 per 50-minute session
• Couples & Family Therapy: $170 per 50-minute session

Therapy is a personal journey, and it’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. If you ever feel you’d like to work with someone else, we’ll support that decision and help you transition smoothly, whether within our team or through an outside referral. If you’ve met your goals and are ready to finish therapy, your therapist will review your progress and provide resources to maintain your growth independently.

You don’t need to prepare anything special. Just bring yourself, your questions, and an open mind. It can help to jot down what led you to seek therapy or what you hope to achieve. During your first session, we’ll review confidentiality, discuss your goals, and outline a plan that feels both realistic and supportive.

That’s completely okay, you don’t need to come in with a plan or a script. Your therapist will help create a safe and welcoming space where you can start with whatever feels most present , maybe a recent stress, a thought that keeps returning, or a memory that’s been hard to shake. Many people begin simply by sharing what’s been on their mind lately or what they wish felt different. Therapy isn’t about saying the “right” things; it’s a space to breathe, explore, and be yourself.

That’s completely normal. Emotions often come up in therapy, sometimes even when we don’t expect them to. There’s no judgment here. Your therapist will support you, help you slow down, and make sure you feel safe to express what’s coming up.

Many people feel nervous at first — that’s perfectly okay. Building trust takes time. Your therapist’s job is to make sure you feel safe, understood, and respected. You can always share what makes you nervous or what has helped you feel comfortable in the past.

That’s okay too. You can take your time. You’re welcome to schedule a free 20-minute consultation to ask questions and learn more before committing to therapy. Sometimes just having that first conversation helps people feel more confident about taking the next step.

A: Most people coming to therapy are a little nervous about their first visit. Our first session will begin with reviewing some of the expectations for working together and a thorough discussion around confidentiality. There is also plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions about the process of counseling or my professional background. This conversation is often helpful in establishing trust, as you can understand what to expect from me.

A: Yes, telehealth is always an option. Whether you prefer in-person sessions or telehealth, you have control over this choice.

This varies from person to person. Some people feel a sense of relief after the first session, while others may require multiple sessions to start feeling a shift.

Yes, I am legally required to provide a diagnosis to insurance companies when they pay for mental health sessions, regardless of whether I feel a diagnosis is needed or not.

Not every person needs a diagnosis. Sometimes you just need to talk things out in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment.

Couples therapy is not usually covered by health insurance because it’s not deemed “medically necessary”. However, depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your insurance provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

Couples & Family therapy: $170 per 50-minute session.

Individual Therapy: $150 per 50-minute session.

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. There is a no-show fee of $50 for missed appointments.
